The chef at the restaurant FERMA at age 23, the owner of the first private cooking school in Latvia at 25 years old and finally, the owner of his restaurant at the age of 29. All this is one person – Maris Astich. His dedication, efficiency and authority in a professional environment can only be envied. But why? After all, he has achieved everything by hard work and faith in himself. F E R M A – Maris’s debut as a restaurateur and the opportunity to show his gourmets a full view of what an ideal restaurant is. “The most important thing for me is the team! Therefore, with me in F E R M A only those in whose eyes I saw the courage to take on something more and, at first glance, – the impossible. ”
Chef F E R M A Maris Astić is known as one of the most prominent experts of fish cuisine in Latvia. He managed to re-discover the Latvians several species of national fish, which seemed to local gourmets too self-evident. Now, Maris’s fish dishes are hunted by foreign grocery stores, while in the menu F E R M A, the textbook Latvian Baltic herring adjoins the tiger shrimps that we have divorced.
